The Agile LeaderA Revolutionary Lens for the Leader of Today and Tomorrow

52% of the Fortune 500s since 2000 have either gone bankrupt, been acquired, or ceased to exist.  There are many factors which contribute to a company’s downfall.  Most notably, the leadership at the top.  At MCG Partners, we have developed a breakthrough approach to help companies develop and transform leaders from the inside out: The Agile Leader™.

The markets of today and tomorrow reward organizations that have the capacity and willingness to adapt. Market leaders such as Apple, Google and Tesla Motors* have established cultures and management approaches that encourage creativity and rapid innovation.  These approaches, commonly referred to as agile, encourage leaders to pivot faster in response to our volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. We have identified core leadership competencies that can be leveraged, at scale, to change how organizations work and get work done. The Agile Leader™ has the ability and capacity to assess risk, decide courageously, and act quickly to meet the rapidly changing environment.  Concurrently, produce results and develop others’ capacity to do the same.

In this introductory and interactive session, you will understand agile and its short history and practices, why companies are using it for rapid innovation and fast market adaptation.  We will then turn our attention to what organizations can do to prepare leaders to be successful in these environments. 

We will share the 10 key leadership competencies, that when present and developed, allow leaders to take their teams to new levels of innovation and adaptability. Some people find that these competencies come naturally. Others are more challenged, as the agile organization requires a different way of working than what may be familiar or comfortable for them.  We will share key insights about what organizations can do to help all of their leaders tap into their unique drives and preferences to adapt and become agile leaders.

Heather Wood, Vice President, MCG Partners

Heather Wood is VP, leadership developer & facilitator, and executive coach with MCG Partners, a woman-owned, management consultancy specializing in leadership and talent optimization.

With more than 20 years of experience in engaging all levels of leadership across multiple business sectors, Heather draws from her experience and insight training hundreds of managers globally. Heather coach’s executives in leadership strategy, communication style, team building, performance management, conflict resolution and career development. Heather is also an accomplished designer and facilitator of customized interactive management workshops.

Heather is a Harvard Business School executive coach providing coaching and advisory services to attending global executives.

In addition to MCG Partners’ management training programs, her other training content includes Situational Leadership, InsideOut Coaching, Thomas Kilmann Conflict Mode (TKI) and Lominger Leadership Architect. Heather’s industry areas of expertise include financial services, software development, bio-pharmaceutical and health and human services.

Previously, Heather was an AVP at Brown Brothers Harriman, where she developed long-term leadership development programs as well as employee engagement surveys and feedback sessions to diagnose competency gaps and improve individual, team and organizational performance. Prior to that, she served as a HR consultant for Idenix Pharmaceuticals and in several capacities at Fidelity Investments in corporate learning and development.

Heather earned her Bachelor of Science from Simmons College in Boston and her Certificate in Professional Coaching (CPC) from the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). She is a certified Analyst in the Predictive Index® (PI®) as well as in several additional assessments and tools.

She volunteers as a mentor for Babson College MBA students as well as for the Social Innovation Forum. Additionally, Heather is an active member of the Boston Facilitators Roundtable. She lives with her family outside of Boston, MA.

 

Alida Zweidler-McKay, Leadership and Team Coach/Consultant, MCG Partners

Alida Zweidler-McKay is a Leadership and Team Coach/Consultant for MCG Partners, a woman-owned, management consultancy specializing in leadership and talent optimization.

Alida has been a consultant and coach for over 20 years, working with clients at all levels of leadership in organizations ranging from Fortune 10 companies to small businesses and academic institutions. As a coach, Alida helps leaders develop executive presence and communications skills, and advises them in team building, performance management, change management and conflict resolution. Alida is an expert facilitator, designing custom workshops that help teams surface, explore and resolve difficult issues.

Her prior experience includes working as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School where she developed a case study with Rosabeth Moss Kanter to illustrate challenges of leading change in dynamic and evolving market conditions.

Alida is certified in the Predictive Index® (PI®), SAVI® Communications, the Power + Systems Organizational Workshop and Personify Leadership®.  She is a Certified Master Coder for SAVI® (the System for Verbal Interaction), which is a research tool for analyzing communication patterns in groups.

Alida’s industry areas of expertise include Oil & Gas, Chemical, Consumer Products, Automotive, Pharmaceuticals, Academic Medicine, and Non-profit organizations. She is an active member of the Systems-Centered® Training and Research Institute, and former president of the Houston Organization Development Network. She has presented at numerous conferences, including the Boston Business Women’s Conference, the Houston Association for Talent Development Annual Conference, the American Group Psychotherapy Association, the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations and the Systems-Centered® Training Annual Conference.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College and her Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
